Plum Sangria

This spicy sweet drink will take your festivity up a notch. Don’t underestimate the pear-ginger ale pairing, with a side note of rich sweet wine. Absolutely delightful with a rich Christmas ham meal!

Total Prep Time: 4 hrs 20 min

Ingredients

  • 2 bottles dry red wine (suggested: Rioja)
  • 1 cup Triple Sec
  • ½ cup Brandy
  • ½ cup orange juice or 2 oranges squeezed
  • 4 purple plums
  • 4 red plums
  • 6 strawberries
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 1 bottle of Ginger Ale (2 Liter)

Directions

  • In a large container, stir together wine, triple sec, brandy, and orange juice.
  • Add fruit and cinnamon sticks.
  • Refrigerate until chilled, at least 4 hours or even all night.
  • Serve in glasses with ice and top off with ginger ale.

Texas Santa Punch

Servings: 3 ¾ quarts

This drink is perfect for those that don’t like drinks that are overly sweet. The pomegranate and dry wine give it flavor without the sugar. A little squeeze of lime, some tequila, and a ring of frozen cranberries and you have the perfect mix to make this big flavored Texas-big drink!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 quart pomegranate juice
  • 3 cups tequila (blanco/white)
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 bottle of dry sparkling wine, chilled (750 ml)

Directions

  • Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan over high heat, stirring constantly. Boil, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves.
  • Cool syrup completely (takes about 45 mins).
  • Stir together pomegranate juice, next 3 ingredients, and simple syrup. Chill for 4 hours.
  • Pour mixture into a punch bowl and gently stir in sparkling wine just before serving.

 

Sorghum Eggnog

  • 1 cup bourbon
  • ½ cup sorghum
  • 2 quarts refrigerated eggnog
  • 3 cups milk
  • Crushed gingersnaps

Directions

  • Whisk together bourbon and sorghum.
  • Stir in eggnog and milk
  • Chill until ready to serve
  • Sprinkle individual servings with crushed gingersnaps

Slow Cooker Peppermint Bark Hot Chocolate

Everyone loves hot chocolate! And this recipe will make all our guest merrier. Can’t go wrong with the comfort drink go-to with a splash of something that makes you feel a little lighter this Christmas season. Try a family friendly version too.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups whole milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup creme de menthe or vodka
  • 1 tbsp. Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. Peppermint extract
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • Sweetened whipped cream
  • Crushed candy canes

Directions

  • Put the milk, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips. Creme de menthe or vodka, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and salt in a 7-quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high 2 hours or until combined, whisking vigorously halfway through to help chocolate melt.
  • Switch to warm for serving. Set out whipped cream and crushed candy canes for toppings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coffee liqueur
  • ½ cup vodka
  • 5 cups espresso or strong black coffee
  • 3 pints high-quality ice cream

Directions

    • Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and whisk until smooth
    • Refrigerate until ready to serve
